This track is dedicated to Daunte Wright, Anthony Thompson Jr., Adam Toledo, George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Christian Hall, Daniel Shaver and all victims of police violence. Solidarity to all, and Rest in Power to the fallen.
I started writing this track around the time Daunte Wright was murdered by police, and it was finished today. It was an emotional roller-coaster writing this track. I recently learned that George Floyd's girlfriend was Daunte Wright's high school teacher.
I combined Chicano guitar's playing style, chopped and screwed for the woodwinds and hiphop beats. Each of the techniques symbolize the culture of the victims. I was gonna talk about the instrument like on Bandcamp, but I will talk exclusively about the production on Newgrounds, my home.
This track is a breakthrough for me. Not just arrangement and composition, but also mixing and sound design. In so many previous attempts, I failed in mixing tracks with lots of reverb. Like lots and lots. But I also learned that reverb is about space, not density. So the trick to balance the reverb is to have many melodic instruments playing at the same time. I have been never ending experiencing with this since I first learned to write music.
I want the listener to feel for the the victims of police violence. I feel powerless that I couldn't do more to help them. I tried my best. I have superpower in other selves, but in this self I am just a composer.
The production took exactly one week.
Please donate to the victims if you can
